  1. 1. According to the Easttimorgovernment.com, 90% of the population are Roman Catholics. Because East Timor is right next to Indonesia, which has a predominantly muslim population, are there any religious issues that have arisen due to this? Are there any religious conflicts within the country?

    2. Does East Timor's small population of around 900,000 have any benefits/detriments to the country? What is beneficial about having such a small population/ What is detrimental about a small population?

  2. 1. Because East Timor has been occupied by various ethnic groups throughout its history (Portuguese, Dutch, Australians, Japanese, Indonesians) what is the dominant race currently residing there?

The article says, "...many younger people have expressed suspicion or hostility to the reinstatement of Portuguese, which they see as a 'colonial language' in much the same way that Indonesians saw Dutch." Will the younger people ever accept the Portuguese language or at least respect it as a part of history?
